migraine
9/21/25

i have had a migraine for two days, now. which is unusual for me as i never get migraines.
i remember one time, about 5 years ago, i got a visual migraine. it was trippy - multichromatic geometric shapes appearing in my visual field and staying there for hours. no pain, though. it was the first sort of migraine i ever had. and i have not had one like it since.
the migraine of the past two days is the more traditional type. i did not even think it was a migraine at first, just a bad headache. but we're on day 2 of it and it is not responding to any medications, so i am assuming it is a migraine. pulsing pain around my skull but mostly hanging out on one side; nausea that comes and goes. sensitivity to sound. my period started today, and dr google tells me that often women have migraines right before/at the beginning of their periods, due to hormonal shifts. so i'll trust in dr google and hope that by tomorrow (when i have to go back into work) this will be gone.
it has made it hard to get much of anything done this weekend. i've mostly lounged, aside from one major chore that needed doing. nothing wrong with lounging, really. but when you're an adult working 40 hours a week, every weekend spent lounging feels like a loss. precious little time to be alive on this planet, and i spent 2 days of it doing nothing.
ah well, it is what it is. (one of my favorite phrases.)
